Yurts Near Ottawa

I love yurts. So, here’s a list of yurts near Ottawa, in case you love yurts too.

Ha, okay… I supposed I should do a BIT of a preamble.

I especially love staying in a yurt in the colder months. They serve as the most perfect basecamp, allowing you the opportunity to spend tons of time outdoors but have somewhere comfy and cozy to return to at night. Plus, they’re often slightly less expensive than cabin or cottage rentals. What’s not to love?

Below is a list of yurts near Ottawa. Some are stunning inside and out, some are more basic but have so many trails right at their doorstep it doesn’t matter, and some we haven’t stayed at yet but hope to soon!

Yurts in Gatineau Park

The four yurts in Gatineau Park are the “more basic” ones I referenced above. They’ve been around for years, and serve a lot of people- so they’re going for function over fashion. But Gatineau Park is so lovely in the fall and winter that it really doesn’t matter! The sites feel fairly private, and each has it’s own firepit and tons of firewood to use.

Borefüge

Borefüge has some of the most beautiful yurts we’ve ever stayed in. Plus, they have hiking and snowshoeing trails right on the property that lead to gorgeous views. As an added bonus, there’s a dog sledding team living right next door, and for a little extra you can visit the dogs, or actually head out on the sled with them! How fun is that?

Hammond Hill

These are some of the yurts we haven’t stayed at yet, but they look super cool. It seems like Hammond Hill is super family friendly, with hiking and snowshoeing trails on the property, a huge park for the kids, snowmobile tours, and a BEER GARDEN.

Silent Lake Provincial Park

Ontario Provincial Park yurts are not the most stunning structures that we’ve ever seen. But that’s okay, because the landscape around them generally is, and Silent Lake Provincial Park is no exception! Silent Lake, in Bancroft, ON often gets overlooked for Algonquin Provincial Park, which is a shame because it’s just as beautiful. As a bonus though, this might make it easier to snag a reservation!

Algonquin Provincial Park

Algonquin is, for good reason, the most iconic provincial park near Ottawa. So, it should be visited in all seasons and since we all know a yurt is the perfect way to stay, we had to include them on this list!
Distance from Ottawa:
3 hours
Dogs Allowed: Yes (only at Yurt 62 at Mew Lake!)

Les Refuges Perchés

These Mont Tremblant Treehouses are only last on the list because they don’t TECHNICALLY have any yurts for rent… But they do have a cabin SHAPED like a yurt, and I enjoyed my stay there so much both times that I went that I had to include them! The cabins at Les Refuges Perchés are all super unique, the lake is stunning, and the hiking and snowshoes trails are spectacular.
Distance from Ottawa: 2 hours and 10 minutes
Dogs Allowed: Yes

This Mont Tremblant Treehouse is called “The Rockhouse,” for obvious reasons. I didn’t snap a picture of the yurt cabin when we were there so this will have to do!
